Crayon castle

This project is great for teaching about shapes. It is a good idea but when teaching little kids it is important to remember that they need explicit instruction.

Clay Coster

This lesson was so much fun. I love that she had us use different techniques. She also had us create something that meant something to us. For me that is P for my cat, S for me, W for my partner, D for my dog, and a 7 because it is an important number in my life.

Watercolor Mandela

This project ties great into math by teaching fractions and symmetry. There was a total of 4 different techniques used making this.

Basket weaving

This lesson would be great for learning about Native American history. I liked how she had pre cut the strip to the size we need since not all of us had rulers. I also like all the symbolism throughout the project.

Printmaking

This is another great art lesson that can be tied into science and teaching about habitats and environments. I learned that the harder you push on the stencil the better the design came out. I would not do this with little children as it can get rather messy.

Fish Weaving

This lesson goes great with biology and animals adaptations. I was sick on the original day but found this rather entertaining. I loved the idea of using a precut piece of paper to measure instead of rulers.

Hidden animal safari

This lesson is great to teach children perspective. We took out animal reference picture and drew it upside down. This tricked out brains into drawing the lines and not the whole picture. With red lenses you can see the hidden tiger.
